Labor Day Weekend & Visiting Hill Ridge Farms in Youngsville, NC!
It’s the laaaast day of our long Labor Day weekend break! Early Friday morning, Josh left to spend the weekend 4wheeling in West Virginia, so it was just me and MEO all weekend.
Friday morning, MEO and I went to Starbucks for a little breakfast date. She picked Starbucks because she thought she could talk me into getting her a cake pop for breakfast. Just as she accepted the fact that I was not going to buy her a cake pop for breakfast, we walked in and they were giving away cake pop samples. 🙄 So, she got her cake pop for breakfast in the end.
As I sat sipping my Pumpkin Spice Latte, I looked over and saw this:
I thought about how, in less than a month, she’ll be five (FIVE!!!!) years old! Kindergarten is less than a year away! There won’t be many more opportunities to keep her home “just because.”
Decision made. Today is going to be a Mommy-Stay-Home-Day, as MEO calls them. We ran errands, did bubbles, arts & crafts, played in the rain, and snuggled up for movies together.
On Saturday, we went to the movies with Mimi to see Leap! It was a cute movie about a girl who dreams of becoming a ballerina. It inspired hours of dancing to Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” in Mimi’s living room afterwards.
On Sunday, MEO and I went to MiMi and O’pa’s for brunch.
It was a beautiful day, and MEO really wanted to go gem mining. So, after brunch, MEO, MeMaw and I went to Hill Ridge Farms where they offer gem mining for kids. The park has grown tremendously since I had been there as a child! Luckly, I had my Snapchat Spectacles with me to capture the fun! (Well, about half of it. They died about halfway through our day.) See our fun below!
The next day, Labor Day, we literally did nothing all day. It was fantastic. I finally forced myself to take a shower around 4pm, just before Josh returned home from his 4wheeling trip. Just in time to prep for another busy week ahead.
